Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking an experienced Paralegal to support its Defeasance Practice Group. The role involves high-level transactional support, document preparation, title review, and coordination of all closing activities.
Key Responsibilities

Review loan and engagement documents; prepare summaries, checklists, and client communications.

Organize and maintain electronic deal folders and draft email templates for attorney review.

Prepare first drafts of defeasance documents using HotDocs Author.

Review title commitments and assist in drafting mortgage releases, UCC terminations, and closing instruction letters; coordinate with title companies.

Conduct preliminary review of due diligence items and client memoranda to streamline attorney review.

Track closing deliverables and update checklists in Project Fortress; review signature packets and outstanding items.

Finalize closing documents, assist with circling and closing, and electronically file UCCs.

Assemble and review final closing binders.

Serve as a liaison with the Project Fortress team to improve workflows and support staff training.

Assist attorneys and team members as needed.
Technology Used
Microsoft Office, Kofax, iManage, Project Fortress, HotDocs.
Compensation: Salary is $90k/yr - $100k/yr plus comprehensive benefits
Requirements

Paralegal Certificate or related degree preferred.

5 years of relevant experience.

1,600 billable hours annually.

Schedule: 5 days in-office for first 3 months, then hybrid (2 remote/3 in-office).
