Direct Counsel is partnering with a highly respected and established California-based insurance defense and litigation firm that is expanding into Nevada. The firm is seeking an experienced Nevada-licensed attorney in the Reno area to play a key role in building and growing its Nevada defense litigation practice.
This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who is interested in getting in on the ground floor of a growing office while working closely with a highly experienced trial attorney and established client base.

- Insurance defense and personal injury litigation
- Construction defect litigation

- Complex and high-exposure litigation and trial work
The firm has successfully expanded its Northern California presence over the past decade and currently maintains offices in Northern and Southern California, including San Francisco and Sacramento. The Nevada expansion represents an exciting next phase of the firm's continued growth.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help establish and develop the firm's Nevada litigation practice, with meaningful responsibility and visibility from the outset.
The attorney will work closely with a seasoned trial lawyer with more than 45 years of litigation and trial experience, including extensive experience in Nevada and California.
The firm already has Nevada matters underway and anticipates a growing volume of work from its longstanding insurance clients.
Responsibilities
- Handle and defend complex civil litigation matters in Nevada
- Represent insurance carriers and their insureds in a variety of defense matters
- Manage cases from inception through resolution and trial
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and case evaluations
- Take and defend depositions
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials
- Communicate directly with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and experts
- Develop litigation strategies and work closely with experienced trial counsel
- Assist in establishing and expanding the firm's Nevada client base and practice
- Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's California offices on matters where appropriate
Qualifications
- Active Nevada State Bar license required
- Demonstrated experience in civil defense litigation
- Experience with insurance defense, personal injury, construction defect, toxic tort, product liability, coverage, or bad faith matters preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and communication skills
- Ability to independently manage litigation matters
- Strong judgment and attention to detail
- Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in helping build a growing practice
- Dual Nevada/California licensure is highly desirable, particularly for an attorney who can assist with California matters as well
