Direct Counsel is partnering with a highly respected California law firm seeking a Junior Legal Practice Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and business professionals. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity ideal for a highly organized, service-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and enjoys supporting both internal teams and clients.
Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Junior Legal Practice Assistant will play an integral role in daily office operations, attorney support, client service, and event coordination while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support

Greet clients, visitors, and vendors while providing exceptional customer service.

Serve as backup for incoming calls and route communications appropriately.

Review and distribute incoming mail to attorneys, docketing personnel, and staff.

Schedule and coordinate conference room usage and meeting logistics.

Maintain the organization, cleanliness, and readiness of shared office spaces, including conference rooms, kitchens, copy centers, and file rooms.

Coordinate with building management and outside vendors regarding deliveries, maintenance, parking, and service requests.

Plan and coordinate office events, meals, happy hours, and internal meetings.

Monitor and replenish office and kitchen supplies in collaboration with office services personnel.

Prepare workstations for new hires and assist with technology setup.

Schedule travel arrangements, meetings, conferences, and teleconferences for attorneys.

Enter attorney billable time and prepare expense reports.

Monitor common-area equipment to ensure proper functionality and availability.
Legal Support

Draft, revise, and proofread legal and business documents, including correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, presentations, and budgets.

Format court filings in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal court rules.

Generate tables of authorities and tables of contents using firm software.

Develop proficiency with municipal, state, and federal procedural requirements.

Process document requests efficiently while ensuring quality control standards are met.

Assist with scanning, mailings, printing, court filings, binders, and other litigation support tasks.
Additional Responsibilities

Maintain library records and file storage systems.

Demonstrate professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations.

Maintain dependable, on-site attendance.

Work collaboratively with attorneys, staff, clients, and external partners.

Qualifications
Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Some college coursework or higher education preferred.

Competitive hourly compensation ranging from $24.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
