Direct Counsel is seeking an Intellectual Property Litigation Associate to join a growing and sophisticated IP litigation practice. This opportunity is ideal for a high-performing attorney with patent litigation experience and a technical background who is looking to work on complex intellectual property disputes in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of patent litigation experience and a background in electrical or mechanical engineering. A B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in sophisticated patent litigation matters
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation-related filings
- Take and defend depositions
- Participate in oral arguments, hearings, and motion practice
- Assist with trial preparation and trial proceedings
- Collaborate closely with clients, experts, and litigation teams on case strategy
- Analyze complex technical and legal issues related to patent disputes
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of patent litigation experience
- Background in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering required
- BSEE or BSME preferred
- Experience taking and/or defending depositions
- Trial experience preferred
- Experience with brief writing and oral motion practice
- Strong academic credentials
- Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Active bar admission in the jurisdiction of practice required
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $205,000 – $225,000
- 4x4 Hybrid Model (in-office Wednesdays plus four additional in-office days per month)
