Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

Short Hills, New Jersey

Direct Counsel is seeking a mid-level Associate Attorney to join a nationally recognized Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice at a leading global law firm. The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of complex litigation experience, with experience in high-level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of commercial litigation from inception through trial and appeal.

• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda.

• Draft complex case analyses, briefs, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.

• Conduct, propound, and respond to discovery, including document discovery, written discovery, and depositions.

• Work closely with clients, witnesses, experts, and other counsel.

• Analyze insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, including drafting coverage opinions and related analyses.

• Develop case strategies and manage litigation matters in collaboration with partners and clients.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of complex and sophisticated litigation experience required.

• Experience with insurance coverage litigation preferred.

• Candidates with complex litigation backgrounds and a genuine interest in high-level insurance coverage work are encouraged to apply.

• Strong legal writing, research, case management, and oral advocacy skills.

• Direct experience handling clients and adversaries.

• Deposition and court experience preferred.

• Previous law firm experience strongly preferred.

• Exceptional analytical and communication skills.

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

• Excellent interpersonal and client-service skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

• Strong networking and business development skills.

• Active New Jersey Bar license and good standing required.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $275,000–$300,000, based on experience. The firm also offers a competitive benefits package and discretionary bonuses.
