IP Associate / Patent Agent – Boston
Direct Counsel is representing a leading AmLaw 100 firm seeking an IP Associate or Patent Agent to join its growing Intellectual Property Practice in Boston. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in the biological sciences and experience with patent prosecution and portfolio matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
- Evaluate patent portfolios and conduct IP due diligence.
- Work directly with clients across a variety of industries.
- Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's national and global platform.
- Provide strategic IP support and exceptional client service.
Qualifications
- 2 years of relevant patent drafting and prosecution experience.
- Strong background in biological sciences.
- Ph.D. required in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Must be registered to practice before the USPTO / Patent Bar.
- Associate candidates must be admitted or eligible for admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
- Law firm experience preferred.
- Excellent academic credentials and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work directly with clients.

Compensation
- IP Associate: $235,000–$365,000
- Patent Agent: $150,000–$185,000
Plus discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
