Bankruptcy Litigation Attorney

Scottsdale, Arizona | $160,000–$175,000 Bonus

Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Litigation Associate Attorney to join the Scottsdale office of a highly regarded national law firm. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney interested in expanding their bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors’ rights, and commercial litigation experience while working alongside an experienced and nationally recognized team.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience in bankruptcy, financial services, debtor-creditor matters, collections, commercial litigation, or a related practice area. Experience handling bankruptcy matters in Arizona and other jurisdictions is highly desirable.

This position offers sophisticated work involving corporate debtors, lenders, creditors, trustees, financial institutions, businesses, and individuals in bankruptcy proceedings and state and federal court litigation.

Responsibilities

• Manage significant aspects of commercial restructurings and Chapter 11 bankruptcy matters

• Assist with case strategy, pleadings, motions, discovery, court appearances, and client communications

• Represent corporate debtors, lenders, creditors, trustees, financial institutions, and other parties in bankruptcy and related litigation matters

• Handle matters involving financial restructurings, asset sales, creditors’ rights, workouts, and business litigation

• Review and document commercial financial transactions and related corporate governance matters

• Review, draft, and negotiate financing, workout, and restructuring agreements and related documents

• Conduct and manage financial and legal due diligence

• Perform sophisticated legal research and prepare high-quality written work product

• Work collaboratively with partners, associates, clients, and professional staff while independently managing assigned matters

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience preferred, including bankruptcy, financial services, debtor-creditor matters, collections, restructuring, creditors’ rights, or commercial litigation

• Active Arizona Bar license in good standing, or ability to become admitted in Arizona through examination or waiver within one year

• Bankruptcy experience in Arizona and/or other jurisdictions is highly desirable

• Experience with Chapter 11 proceedings and commercial restructuring matters preferred

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment

• Ability to independently manage and prioritize a sophisticated workload while maintaining effective communication with partners and team members

• Self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic

• Interest in helping develop and grow an active bankruptcy and restructuring practice

• Strong commitment to client service

Compensation

Base Salary: $160,000–$175,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Bonus: Discretionary bonus opportunity

Work Arrangement

This position is based in the firm’s Scottsdale, Arizona office and is primarily in-office. An occasional hybrid schedule may be available with approval.
