Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- To give witness and example of Catholic values.
- To interpret and model the school philosophy by contributing to the growth of a faith community.
- To attend daily Mass with their homeroom class.
- To possess adequate knowledge of subject matter, use best teaching practices with the integration of technology as an instructional tool.
- To undertake various assignments of limited duration with duties that may include all aspects of classroom teaching.
- To create a classroom environment conducive to learning and motivate students to want to learn by varying the use of teaching strategies and instructional tools.
- To maintain discipline and classroom control.
- To make provisions for learning differences with individual student support plans and a multi-tier approach to instruction.
- Provide for constant supervision of students while in your care.
- To establish a positive rapport with faculty members, administration, parents, and students.
- To take attendance each period and submit to the office.
- Create lesson plans, assessments, assignments, projects according to grade level and meeting Diocesan standards.
- Provide dynamic, engaging instruction in religion for students in grades 6–8, incorporating Scripture, Church teachings, liturgical seasons, and Catholic traditions
- Prepare students for meaningful participation in school Masses, prayer services, and other liturgical events
- Collaborate with the parish clergy and school staff to integrate faith across the curriculum and school culture
- Encourage and model a life of prayer, service, and discipleship
- Plan and lead prayer daily with students
- Create a classroom environment that fosters respect, inclusion, and Catholic identity
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and digital tools to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Communicate regularly with parents to support students' faith formation and academic progress
- Maintain accurate and timely student records in the school’s student information system
- Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, retreats, and professional development
- Attend parent/teacher conferences as scheduled by the school
- Support and participate in school-wide events and activities
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in theology or a related field
- Florida Department of Education Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Catechist certification through the Diocese (or willingness to complete within the first year)
- Prior teaching experience in a Catholic school preferred
- Proficient in technology / Use of educational programs and devices
- Excellent and professional interpersonal skills.
