Primary Responsibilities

The seasonal Summer Programs Lead position is responsible for the facilitation and execution of the daily summer camp schedule. In addition, this individual assists in overseeing the summer camp counselor staff, in conjunction with the Camp Director and Summer Camp Director. Ideally, the Summer Programs Lead has experienced knowledge of Camp programming and is someone who has proven to be an exemplary leader. It is imperative that this individual understands the mission/vision of both the Diocese of Green Bay and Camp Tekakwitha. The ideal candidate is one who has a desire to serve the campers, staff, and community deeply rooted in the Catholic faith.

As the leader of the Camp lead team, this individual is expected to be a role model and set a standard of excellence for other lead team members, camp counselors, kitchen aides, and counselors in training. While employed at Camp Tekakwitha, this individual must follow the most basic doctrine of the Catholic Church to align with the mission/vision of the Diocese of Green Bay. The ideal candidate will be an example of a Missionary Disciple with a servant heart.

Minimum Knowledge, Experience And Skills Required

  • Applicant must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be first aid/CPR certified (or willing to be trained)
  • Lifeguard certification preferred (or willing to be trained)
  • Understanding of the mission/vision of Camp Tekakwitha
  • Understanding of Catholic Church teachings and practices
  • Applicant must have a background in youth programming, including at least two years of previous youth camp staff experience (preferably at Camp Tekakwitha)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human development and facilitation of scheduling, program implementation, and sound judgment in the face of conflict
  • Must be a proficient listener and communicator with people from all walks of life
  • Adequate knowledge of the summer camp world, youth programming, and Catholicism
  • Collaborative decision-making skills and conflict management
  • Able to work well with people of all backgrounds and all ages
  • Strong relational ability to serve as a member of a team, work independently, lead small groups, and work one on one with individuals
  • Competency in aligning to mission/vision, state standards, and ACA regulations
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
