College & Career Center Technician 8 HRS 10 MOS DINUBA HIGH SCHOOL 1. Any combination equivalent to: AA or higher degree with course work in counseling, career education, social services, or related field & two years experience in a school, employment, counseling or educational guidance environment. 2. Assist students with college & career research including utilizing internet web sites; review college requirements & application procedures. Make recommendations to students regarding available career assessment tools to determine potential careers. 3. Assist students with registration to college entrance exams; provide information with calendar of exams & fee waivers. 4. Organize & submit facility requests for college visits; college application workshops & college placement exams; maintain calendar of events & recruit college representatives; announce & promote visits & prepare school bulletins. 5. Maintain, research, & update library of career & college information & materials. 6. Orient students on programs available at colleges or universities; provide oral & written translation & interpretation of correspondence, forms, letters & other materials from English to designated second language. Serve as an interpreter for personnel, parents & students. 7. Assist the counseling staff with the scholarship program; maintain scholarship information sheets & applications. 8. Plan & organize workshops to assist students & parents with the FAFSA application. Promote college preview days, summer bridge programs, conferences, employment programs & other opportunities. 9. Perform general clerical support duties; 10. Complete work with many interruptions, work independently, communicate effectively both orally & in writing; meet schedule & timelines. 11. Perform related duties as assigned. 12. Incumbents must be proficient in English & a designated second language & pass a written proficiency test in designated second language.
