What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Coordinator position at Dinesh Khanna MD LLC ES?
As an essential part of the care team, the Patient Coordinator is responsible for coordinating patient activities in the front office of the primary care practice. This is predominately an administrative role; however, clinical knowledge is required to facilitate and manage patient care. Responsible for all general medical office duties.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working in a primary care physician office setting. Fast and efficient use of electronic medical records and knowledge of medical terminology is a must!
Candidate must possess great people skills, a professional phone demeanor, be dependable as well as a team player. The position requires you to work in a busy office type setting. You must be able to function in a team-oriented environment, display strong multi-tasking, efficiency, accuracy, and organizational skills.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the patient, coordinating the patient’s activities within the care team.
- Check in arriving patients and check out departing patients; set and confirm patient appointment schedules.
- Answer phones and respond to patient messages promptly. Compose and distribute messages, faxes, tasks and emails throughout the care team and within practice policy.
- Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information; collect copays, payments and balances. Resolve financial matters with assistance from billing specialist.
- Assist with test orders, scheduling test and treatments, pre-certification and prior authorization, and processing referrals to other providers.
- Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing, updating patient charts and reconcile testing and specialist correspondence prior to appointment.
- Provide follow-up contact with patient to ensure compliance with health recommendations; participate in patient engagement and educating patients to improve their health.
- Compile various reports, including day sheets, closing reports and patient Quality and Cost data (HEDIS, HCC, RAF reports)
- Perform related general medical office and patient coordination duties required to successfully fulfill functions of the position.

- Monday through Friday
- 8:00am-5pm
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in an outpatient / primary care practice environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication skills in person, over the phone, and by email
- Strong computer, electronic medical record and technological proficiency
- Fast typing skills (50 words per minute)
CREDENTIALS
- High School or GED equivalent diploma
- Florida Driver’s License in good standing
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required)
- Florida CNA, CMA License (preferred but not required)
