Position Overview
Firehawk Aerospace is looking for a motivated and curious Business Development Intern to support our growing business development team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in defense contracting, market research, and strategic planning while working alongside experienced professionals in the aerospace and defense industry. This is an exciting opportunity to learn how a dynamic and innovative company shapes the future of defense propulsion technology.
Responsibilities:
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Work Environment And Physical Requirements
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, standing for extended amounts of time, climbing, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Security Clearance
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Responsibilities:
- Market Research & Industry Analysis
- Assist in researching DoD funding mechanisms, defense industry trends, and emerging propulsion needs to support Firehawk's gotomarket strategy.
- Help maintain and update a competitive database of direct competitors, technology developments, and global missile systems.
- Track congressional funding cycles and DoD program priorities to identify potential opportunities for Firehawk.
- Support the business development team in identifying and tracking new contract opportunities, including SBIRs, OTAs, and DoD procurements.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of proposals, presentations, and supporting documentation tailored to DoD and commercial customers.
- Help maintain and update the opportunity pipeline database, ensuring accurate and current information.
- Support the development of growth initiative documentation and strategic planning materials.
- Assist in compiling and analyzing data to inform business strategy and diversification efforts.
- Participate in crossfunctional team meetings with engineering, finance, and executive teams to gain exposure to how business strategy is developed and executed.
- Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing briefing materials, and organizing conference and event logistics.
- Support the team in tracking and reporting on key business development metrics and milestones.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Political Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong research, analytical, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
- Familiarity with DoD programs, acquisition processes, or defense contracting a plus but not required.
- Prior internship or coursework experience in business development, strategy, or related fields.
