Job Title: Experienced Cable Routing/Harness CAD Designer – Catia V6
Location: San Diego, CA Area - On-site (Hybrid depending on project needs & Approval.
Duration: 2 Months Contract (with possible extension)
Compensation:
- $65/hour to $80/hour
Start Date: Immediate / Urgent Hire
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced harness, harness routing, grommets, brackets and preferably know/operate Designer to support an active vehicle development program in the San Diego area. The ideal candidate will have strong automotive harness design experience, excellent surface/harness and solid modeling skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced product development environment. CATIA V6 Automotive design experience required.
Key Responsibilities
- Harness Design & Routing
- Automotive harness, harness routing using Catia V6
- Design Grommets, brackets
- Create Harness Bill of Materials (BOMs) as needed.
- Generate 2D drawings, GD&T, and documentation
- Perform packaging studies and basic tolerance analysis
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams
- Implement design changes and manage revisions efficiently
- Ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in automotive Harness CAD design
- Expert-level proficiency in Catia V6
- Strong knowledge of automotive packaging and part design
- Experience with sheet metal, plastics, and machined parts
- Understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Proven experience in system design and mechanical engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Harness design Experience
- Experience with electric vehicle (EV) platforms
- Knowledge of PLM systems
- Background in high-volume automotive production environments. Catia V6 a plus
- Part Design, Solid/Surface based, Surfacing Class A & B design a plus.
- Sheetmetal Design, Assembly Design, Power Copies, General Shape Design (GSD), General Surface based design
