Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Catia V6 designer responsible for part/sheetmetal design. Preferably know/operate Designer to support an active vehicle development program in the San Diego area. The ideal candidate will have strong automotive design experience, excellent surface and solid modeling skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced product development environment. CATIA V6 Automotive design experience, a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- General Part & Sheetmetal design
- Create Bill of Materials (BOMs) as needed.
- Generate 2D drawings, GD&T, and documentation
- Perform packaging studies and basic tolerance analysis
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams
- Implement design changes and manage revisions efficiently
- Ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, and quality requirements
- Create and modify 3D CAD models using Arcadia package and/or CATIA V6 as needed.
- Electrical routing design a plus
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in automotive CAD design
- Expert-level proficiency in Arcadia SolidWorks Package
- Strong knowledge of automotive packaging and part design
- Experience with sheet metal, plastics, and machined parts
- Understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Proven experience in system design and mechanical engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electric vehicle (EV) platforms
- Automotive design experience using Catia V5/V6 3D Experience.
- Knowledge of PLM systems
- Background in high-volume automotive production environments.
- Part Design, Solid/Surface based, Surfacing Class A & B design a plus.
- Sheetmetal Design, Assembly Design, Power Copies, General Shape Design (GSD), General Surface based design
Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
