Job Description:
The Director of Finance & Accounting will serve as a strategic business partner and key member of the leadership team for a manufacturing organization. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this role will lead forecasting, annual planning, and long-range strategic planning while partnering closely with executive and functional leaders to analyze performance, identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate investments, and support business decisions.
This position is responsible for helping define the organization’s financial direction, strengthening performance management, and communicating value creation across the business, including areas such as new product development, manufacturing efficiency, market share growth, and staffing levels. The role will also support pricing strategy, financial modeling, scenario analysis, reporting, and risk management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial functions, including general accounting, internal reporting and controls, planning, accounts receivable/payable, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Lead the monthly and quarterly forecasting process, annual planning process, and five-year strategic plan.
- Oversee internal controls and company policies, month-end close, intercompany transactions, journal entry review, balance sheet reconciliations, and analysis of future earnings and expenses.
- Work closely with the management team to support continuous financial improvement, including new product development, market competitiveness, quality and safety systems, new ventures, and investments.
- Direct the preparation of weekly projected P&L statements, quarterly board updates, annual operating and capital budgets, and cash flow projections.
- Provide financial reporting to management, senior leadership, and the board.
- Monitor and analyze the organization’s financial condition and performance.
- Lead risk management efforts, including identification of key risks and implementation of controls and reporting practices to mitigate those risks.
- Oversee pricing strategies to ensure they balance profitability, market competitiveness, and value proposition.
- Improve financial reporting, KPI tracking, and performance metrics to strengthen decision-making across the organization.
- Lead financial modeling and scenario analysis for major initiatives, including new product launches, partnerships, and expansion into new markets.
- Travel as needed, approximately 20%.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or relevant professional certification strongly preferred.
- CPA preferred.
- 10 years of experience in a senior finance management role within industrial manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a true business partner to business leaders.
- Strong understanding of real flow environments, product costing, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis experience supporting complex decision-making.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive and non-financial audiences.
- Proficiency with financial systems and tools, including ERP platforms, advanced Excel, and financial planning software.
