What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Data Technologies position at Digital Monitoring Products?
Build the data and technology foundation that powers our next chapter of growth.
For more than 50 years, we've built a reputation for innovation in the electronic security industry. As a privately held company headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, we've remained founder-led, customer-focused and committed to developing technology that competes with some of the largest companies in the world.
Today, we're entering an exciting new phase of growth driven by continued product innovation and an increasing need to turn information into faster, better business decisions. To support that growth, we're looking for an exceptional Director of Data Technology who is excited by the opportunity to strengthen our core enterprise systems while building the data infrastructure and analytics capabilities our organization needs for the future.
This role will lead the team responsible for our growing enterprise data and analytics platform, including DOMO, and our ERP environment on IBM iSeries. You'll have the opportunity to build a modern data function that delivers trusted executive reporting, quickly responds to emerging business needs and creates scalable solutions that improve decision-making across the organization.
What You'll Do
As Director of Data Technology, you'll lead our enterprise systems and data technology functions while helping shape the future of how data is managed and used throughout the organization.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and develop the teams responsible for our enterprise data infrastructure, DOMO business intelligence, ERP, and analytics platforms.
- Develop a long-term roadmap for enterprise data, analytics, reporting, and business systems.
- Partner with executive and functional leaders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable reporting, dashboards, and technology solutions.
- Establish priorities for data, analytics, and reporting initiatives, ensuring the team can respond quickly to emerging business needs while building sustainable, scalable solutions that support long-term organizational goals.
- Develop a scalable approach for integrating data across all enterprise systems.
- Establish standards for data quality, governance, ownership, access, metric definitions, and reporting consistency.
- Identify opportunities to modernize legacy processes, improve system integrations, automate reporting, and simplify access to business information.
- Ensure mission-critical enterprise systems remain reliable, secure, performant, and capable of supporting continued organizational growth.
- Manage technology partners, vendors, consultants, and platform relationships associated with enterprise applications and data technology.
Who You Are
You're more than a systems or reporting leader—you are a builder.
You understand that great dashboards begin with great data, and that a successful data organization has to balance speed with structure. You're comfortable responding quickly when leadership needs information while also building the architecture, processes, and standards that prevent every new request from becoming a one-off solution.
You enjoy developing technical teams, solving complex business problems, and creating systems that allow people throughout an organization to make better decisions. You're equally comfortable discussing the next DOMO BI analytic with a technical team and sitting with an executive to understand the business question behind a new dashboard.
You thrive in environments where priorities evolve, opportunities are abundant, and success depends on strong partnerships between technology and the business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8 years of progressive experience in enterprise applications, data technology, business intelligence, analytics, or related technology functions.
- 3 years of experience leading technical teams, functions, or major enterprise technology initiatives.
- Experience supporting ERP or other mission-critical enterprise business systems; IBM iSeries experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture, data integration, data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, APIs, and business intelligence.
- Experience with modern business intelligence and analytics platforms; DOMO experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience integrating and reporting across multiple enterprise systems.
- Demonstrated ability to translate executive and business requirements into practical technology, reporting, and analytics solutions.
- Demonstrated success building teams, improving processes, and developing scalable technology capabilities within a growing organization.
Why This Role Is Different
This isn't a role where you'll simply inherit a reporting team and maintain a collection of dashboards.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Build an enterprise data and analytics capability that will influence decisions across the organization.
- Shape the future of both our long-standing ERP environment and our modern data technology ecosystem.
- Work directly with executive leadership on the information and insights used to run the business.
- Create the standards and architecture that allow us to move quickly without sacrificing data quality or consistency.
- Make a measurable impact on a company with a 50-year history of innovation and an ambitious vision for the future.
If you're energized by building strong technical teams, modernizing enterprise systems, and turning complex data into information that helps organizations move faster and make better decisions, we'd love to meet you.
