Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the company's day-to-day accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain accurate daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, expenses, and journal entries using accounting software.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations by comparing financial records and resolving discrepancies.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) by processing vendor invoices, preparing payments, maintaining vendor records, and ensuring timely payment of bills.
- Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) by preparing customer invoices, monitoring outstanding balances, processing payments, and following up on past-due accounts.
- Process payroll by calculating employee wages, deductions, benefits, and assisting with payroll tax filings while ensuring timely and accurate employee payments.
- Prepare and maintain financial reports, including Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, and other accounting reports.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Support tax preparation by organizing financial records, maintaining fixed asset schedules, and preparing documentation for tax filings.
- Assist external accountants and auditors by providing requested financial records and supporting audit activities.
- Maintain organized financial records while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Qualifications
- Previous 2 years of experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, Accounting Specialist, Staff Accountant, or similar accounting role preferred.
- Knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll processing, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience using accounting software (such as QuickBooks or similar accounting systems) is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive financial information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Relocation required, on site Oakland CA
