Responsibilities
- Prepare tissue specimens through fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining techniques to ensure optimal quality for microscopic examination.
- Accurately process and label specimens, maintaining strict adherence to laboratory protocols and safety standards.
- Assist with specimen collection and processing from patients or research subjects, ensuring proper handling and documentation.
- Maintain detailed records of all laboratory procedures, specimen tracking, and quality control measures.
- Support research activities by performing specialized histological techniques and assisting with experimental protocols.
- Follow aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen preparation and handling.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure timely delivery of prepared slides for diagnostic review or research analysis.
Skills
- Proven experience in clinical or research laboratory settings, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology relevant to tissue processing and histology.
- Skilled in specimen collection, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining (including immunohistochemistry), and microscopy.
- Familiarity with hospital or clinical laboratory environments, including phlebotomy and patient care procedures.
- Ability to accurately measure vital signs when necessary and maintain aseptic conditions during all procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for managing multiple specimens simultaneously.
