Job Summary
The Diesel Production & Warehouse Associate is responsible for packaging and shipping diesel auto parts, processing automotive cores, cleaning and assembling parts, entering inventory data into computer systems, and sorting and organizing inventory to maintain an efficient warehouse. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and adherence to safety and quality protocols. Knowledge of diesel auto parts is a plus but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Packaging and Shipping:
- Package diesel auto parts (e.g., injectors, pumps, turbos) securely for shipment, following DAPs packaging standards to prevent damage.
- Prepare shipping labels and documentation using shipping software, ensuring accurate order fulfillment.
- Kit products following DAP quality standards.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers (e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx) for timely deliveries, adhering to typical delivery schedules.
- Automotive Core Processing:
- Inspect, sort, and process automotive cores (e.g., fuel injectors, turbochargers, pumps) returned by customers, verifying condition and eligibility for refurbishment or recycling.
- Disassemble cores as needed, separating reusable components from non-reusable parts per DAPs quality standards.
- Document core conditions and quantities in inventory software, ensuring accurate tracking for core return programs.
- Cleaning and Assembling Parts:
- Clean automotive parts using appropriate tools and cleaning solutions (e.g., ultrasonic cleaners, solvents) to remove contaminants, grease, or debris, adhering to safety protocols.
- Assemble components for diesel auto parts, following technical specifications and quality control guidelines to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Perform visual and functional inspections of cleaned and assembled parts to confirm they meet DAPs performance standards.
- Inventory Management:
- Enter inventory data, including core processing and part assembly records, into inventory software.
- Accurately track incoming products and store in proper locations.
- Identify and quarantine nonconforming parts (e.g., damaged, incorrect).
- Sorting and Organizing:
- Maintain a 5S-organized workspace (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to ensure efficiency and safety in both warehouse and production areas.
- Safety:
- Wear protective gear (eyewear, gloves, aprons) when handling parts, cores, or cleaning solutions, per DAPs Safety Policy, to prevent injury from sharp edges or hazardous materials.
- Use proper lifting techniques for items up to 50 lbs, reporting any injuries to the team leader immediately for Workers Compensation processing.
- Keep the warehouse and production areas free of clutter to avoid safety hazards, aligning with 5S principles.
Qualifications
- Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional attention to detail for accurate packaging, core processing, part cleaning, assembly, inventory entry, and sorting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly (e.g., core boxes, turbos, part bins).
- Basic computer skills for inventory and shipping software.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain a 5S-compliant warehouse and production workspace.
- Preferred (Bonus):
- Knowledge of diesel auto parts (e.g., fuel injectors, pumps, turbos) and core processing procedures.
- Experience in warehouse operations, shipping, inventory management, or automotive part assembly.
- Familiarity with cleaning tools (e.g., ultrasonic cleaners) or assembly processes.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain for handling pallets.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks in warehouse and production settings.

Compensation and Benefits
- Pay:
$18 - $22 hourly rate. Actual starting wage will vary and is determined by factors including relevant experience, education, certifications, diesel/automotive knowledge, skills assessment, and internal equity. Provided ranges are estimates based on market data and do not guarantee any specific rate of pay. Paid biweekly every other Friday. - Overtime: Eligible for 1.5x regular rate for hours over 40 per week.
- Paid Time Off (PTO): Accrue 1 hour per 20 hours worked (0.05 hours/hour); increases to 1.4 hours/20 hours after 5 years, 1.71 hours/20 hours after 10 years. Max 200 hours; cash-out available with 40 hours remaining.
- Holidays: 8 hours paid for New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
- Bereavement Leave: Up to 24 hours paid for immediate family (spouse, child, parent, sibling); 8 hours for grandparents.
- New Child Leave: Up to 24 hours paid for birth/adoption of a child.
- Unpaid Sick Leave: 40 hours annually for illness (employee or child), resetting each January.
- Insurance:
- Health/Dental: Eligible after 60-day introductory period for employees working 30 hours/week; DAP covers base premium, with balance deducted from paychecks.
- Life: Eligible after 60-day introductory period for 30 hours/week; DAP covers base premium, with supplemental options available.
- Workers Compensation: Full premium covered for work-related injuries, reported immediately to the team leader.
- Unemployment Insurance: Fully funded by DAP for eligible claims.
Employment Status
- Non-Exempt, Regular Hourly Full-Time: Expected to work 72 hours per pay period after a 60-day introductory period. Employment is at-will, terminable by employee or DAP at any time.
