Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Public Relations Intern who is passionate about media, communications, and elevating brands through strategic storytelling. This role is PR-first—not a general marketing internship. You will work closely with our Director of Marketing to build and execute PR strategies that increase Dickson Realty’s media presence locally, regionally, and nationally.
Your work will help position Dickson Realty as the authoritative voice for real estate in Northern Nevada by securing media coverage, driving expert commentary, and cultivating strong press relationships.
This role is ideal for a communications, PR, journalism, or marketing student eager to gain real-world media relations experience.
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations & Outreach:
- Draft press releases and tailored media pitches.
- Build and maintain a strategic media list of local, regional, and national reporters, editors,
- podcasters, and influencers.
- Pitch relevant story angles and market updates to secure interviews, quotes, and coverage.
- Coordinate press requests and prepare internal stakeholders for interviews.
- Track media coverage and prepare reporting.
- Strategic Positioning
- Identify trends, data insights, and market narratives that appeal to journalists.
- Monitor local and national real estate news for timely commentary opportunities.
- Support the development of a PR calendar aligned with economic cycles, market trends, and
- regional news moments.
- Reinforce Dickson Realty's role as the source for authoritative real estate insights in Northern
- Nevada.
- Collaboration & Support
- Partner with our Senior Storyteller to align messaging and ensure consistency across PR and
- content.
- Work with leadership and subject-matter experts to gather quotes, insights, and data.
- Help draft talking points, bios, and background materials as needed.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in PR, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Strong writing skills, especially in news-style or AP format.
- Comfortable reaching out to media contacts via email and phone.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
- Curious about real estate, housing trends, and community issues.
- Experience with journalist research, media databases, or newsroom operations is a plus.
