Position Summary
The Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients with acute and chronic wounds in an outpatient wound care clinic. The RN works collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, treat, educate, and monitor patients throughout their wound healing process. This position requires excellent clinical skills, compassionate patient care, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess and document patient wound status, including measurements, staging, and progression.
- Assist providers with wound care procedures, debridement, dressings, and other treatments.
- Perform dressing changes and wound treatments according to provider orders and established protocols.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding wound care, treatment plans, medication management, and preventative measures.
- Monitor patients for signs of infection, complications, and changes in condition.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
- Coordinate patient care with providers, home health agencies, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Obtain and document vital signs, health histories, and patient assessments.
- Manage clinic supplies and ensure proper stocking of wound care products.
- Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and clinic policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Tennessee.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and patient education skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred
- Previous wound care experience.
- Experience in outpatient clinic, surgical, or home health settings.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to assist patients with mobility and positioning.
- Manual dexterity required for wound assessment and treatment procedures.
Schedule
- Part-time position.
