Qualifications:


TN Teaching License, with appropriate endorsement

Master's Degree and Certificate of Clinical Competence (current) State of TN Health Board License (current)

Knowledge of effective speech/language therapeutic practices.

Adaptability in dealing with students with IEPs.

Possess strong writing, speaking, and human relations skills.

Function and maintain a positive rapport with all stakeholder groups.

Complies with Job Description for Classroom Teachers


Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


  • Provide speech screening tests for all referred students.
  • Provide diagnostic/evaluation testing for students failing speech screening.
  • Create a treatment plan for students needing speech/language services.
  • Participate in and/or create a student's IEP.
  • Collect, maintain, record, and report student performance data in accordance to IEP.
  • Provide therapy, follow-up, and/or consultation based on student IEPs.
  • Make informed, timely educational recommendations/decisions.
  • Participate in ongoing staff development to increase personal knowledge and skills.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local policies and procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Schools/Director of Special Education, or Administration.

    Standard testing equipment; standard office equipment, including a computer


    Posture:


    Frequent sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting


    Motion:


    Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension


    Lifting:


    Regular light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds), occasional heaving lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint; assisting non-ambulatory students


    Environment:


    Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases; may require districtwide travel


    Mental Demands:


    Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure
