Summary: Staff designated at Dickinson Wright PLLC (“the Firm”) as Pricing Analyst are responsible for providing professional support services to Attorneys and Clients of the Firm as assigned on a full time basis unless otherwise arranged with the Firm. Such services may include providing administrative support to Attorneys and Clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities of staff designated as Pricing Analyst at the Firm include but are not limited to:
1. Advise members by providing financial analysis and pricing guidance in both the requests for proposals (RFP) process and on existing client/matters through the use of pricing models and scenarios
2. Independently review and analyze client intake documentation to understand the impact of discounts, alternate fee arrangements, and write-downs on firm results
3. Provide coaching and education to members regarding effective pricing solutions to support and enhance the firm’s profitability through a client-centric lens
4. Analyze workflows related to write-downs, client discount structures and AFA’s to understand client realization, leverage and direct margin. Approve workflows once requests align with firm strategic targets
5. Evaluate and approve proposed write downs or provide recommendations
6. Manage legacy pricing arrangements and existing rate configurations in firm systems and update to maximize efficiency in financial operations
7. Establish budgets, assess performance and report to key stakeholders relative to same throughout the life of engagements
8. Oversee the annual review and update of firm and client-specific billing rates
9. Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by the Director of Pricing and Matter Analytics and/or the Vice-President Data Analytics and Business Intelligence to improve pricing efficiency, business process and resources.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities Required:
Pricing Analyst must have:
1. Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar required;
2. 3-5 years’ experience working within the legal industry (preferred) or other professional services field, in roles requiring financial analysis;
3. Demonstrated technical aptitude with business and accounting software applications and the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel. SQL and Power BI reporting experience a plus;
4. Exceptional communication skills at all levels within an organization and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with attorneys, clients and staff;
5. Self-motivated individual able to independently manage multiple requests, assess priorities and achieve solutions in accordance with deadlines;
6. Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure;
7. Advanced organizational skills, including the ability to manage a high volume of work with accuracy and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
Normal law office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, temperature.
Hybrid position – 2 days/week in office. Applicants should reside within driving distance of a Dickinson Wright location.
Travel requirement: approximately 10% travel to Dickinson Wright offices
