Summary:
The General Ledger Accountant works closely with the Accounting Manager and operational teams to gather, analyze, and report financial results across the companies’ business activities. This role requires strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles, with practical application in convenience store accounting, inventory, transportation operations, and small business reporting. In addition to monthly close and general ledger maintenance, the position supports process and control improvements across billing, accounts receivable and payable, credit card and account reconciliations, enterprise system functionality, asset tracking, and daily store reporting to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to collaborate effectively across all areas of the business. Success in this role requires strong prioritization skills, accuracy, initiative, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies quickly.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret financial information
- Prepare financial and operational reports to generate accurate financial reporting
- Prepare journal entries for the monthly general ledger close
- Assist in the preparation of corporate financial statements
- Maintain the general ledgers and produce financial statements for the real estate and other small business entities in the Dickerson family of Companies
- Responsible for the reconciling of customer credit card activities and researching discrepancies
- Monitor C-Store paperwork accuracy and assist store operations managers as needed
- Assist with customer and internal pricing reports, inventory tracking, and related reporting
- Monitor daily and monthly fuel reconciliations and research discrepancies
- Reconcile accounts to the general ledger and research differences
- Analyze income statement accounts to ensure accuracy of records
- Support process improvements that increase efficiency across accounting and reporting functions
- Assist the Accounting Manager with PDI Enterprise troubleshooting and efficiency improvements
- Provide exceptional customer service to both external and internal customers
- Protect organizational value by maintaining confidentiality
- Update job knowledge through on the job training and educational opportunities
- Contribute to departmental and organizational projects as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, with 3–5 years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Proficiency in Excel including design and use of pivot tables
- Experience in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Employment Classification: Full Time, Exempt. Can work from our Madison or Kosciusko offices.
Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience, and eligible for the bonus program.
