Position Overview

An established and growing inpatient neurology service, affiliated with two prestigious hospital systems in Westchester County is seeking a Neurologist (MD/DO) for part-time or locum tenens inpatient coverage. • Access to a comprehensive stroke center, EEG monitoring, and advanced neuroimaging

  • Competitive locum/part-time hourly compensation
  • Malpractice/occurrence-based liability coverage provided

  • Perform admission history and physical examinations for patients presenting with acute neurological illness
  • Independently formulate and direct diagnostic workup and treatment plans for stroke, status epilepticus and seizure disorders, encephalopathy, CNS infections, neuromuscular emergencies, and other acute neurological conditions
  • Interpret and act on CT, MRI, EEG, CSF studies, and laboratory data, ordering additional workup as clinically indicated
  • Direct acute stroke management, including determination of eligibility for thrombolysis/thrombectomy in coordination with the stroke team
  • Provide direct supervision and oversight of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and trainees participating in inpatient care
  • Lead multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate care with neurosurgery, critical care, internal medicine, and rehabilitation services
  • Author and finalize admission notes, daily progress notes, and consult documentation as the responsible physician
  • Determine and execute discharge planning and disposition, including safe transition to rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or home care
  • Respond to and manage acute neurological decompensation and code stroke activations during assigned shifts
  • Participate in interdisciplinary quality improvement and stroke center metrics as needed
