SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor I provides vital support to individuals undergoing substance use treatment. This position requires a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety. The AOD Counselor I will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to treatment, focusing on the physical, emotional, and social well-being of each client. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients are essential for success in this role.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct safety checks in accordance with regulatory agency(s) requirements.
- Ensure adherence to program rules and hold clients accountable when necessary, utilizing a progressive discipline system to promote fairness and consistency.
- Maintain accurate and confidential daily records of client interactions and progress.
- Complete general residential housekeeping duties, including serving meals to clients, cleaning, room preparation, and assisting clients with laundry.
- Supervise clients with online orders to ensure orders are in compliance with DHCS regulations.
- Conduct searches of client property and rooms.
- Complete Substance Use Assessments (SUA) as needed.
- Safely operate company vehicles to perform a variety of tasks, including transporting clients to and from appointments, treatment sessions, and other designated locations.
- Facilitate group counseling as needed.
- Provide client service needs and support daily activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Entry-level Counseling Registration such as RADT, SUDRC, or equivalent.
- None to minimal prior counseling experience.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with individuals in recovery.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality guidelines.
- Successful completion of background check, drug test, physical, and TB screening.
- Valid driver's license and proof of active personal vehicle insurance.
Salary : $21 - $25
