We are seeking a Refrigeration Operator to operate one of our three locations with ammonia refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial refrigeration and ammonia systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations while optimizing system performance and efficiency. You will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the facilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Monitor cold storages
· Operate refrigeration systems
· Maintain accurate records of system performance, maintenance activities, and compliance documentation.
· Perform maintenance
· Respond to refrigeration alarms to identify, diagnose and correct system malfunctions and deficiencies.
· Emergency responder
· Follow our Safety/Food Safety Policies
Details of Responsibilities:
a. Continually monitor cold storage buildings, refrigeration systems and all associated equipment. Track and monitor fruit through the cold storage process.
b. Document daily log sheets and inspections and note any potential problems.
c. Watch storing and piling operations, ensure that no units or storage areas are overloaded, and that adequate spaces on walls and between stacks are maintained.
d. Check loose fruit core temperatures at critical times through the process, at arrival, into cold room zones, and prior to loading of C.A. rooms.
Operate refrigeration systems
a. Set compressor room equipment controls to run efficiently and effectively with in safe limits of equipment.
b. Set and maintain thermostats, backpressure valves, and all controls, to provide temperatures and conditions as nearly ideal as possible.
c. Ensure that the common storage and CA rooms are properly loaded.
d. Enforce all applicable policies and procedures
e. Immediately inform the R&P Manager of any potential problems that are encountered.
Perform Maintenance
- Rebuild serviceable automatic valves.
- Replace non serviceable valves.
- Repair doors, walls, floors, and other building repairs.
- Prep and paint pipes and equipment
- Perform PM procedures on air and ammonia compressors.
- Repair pallet racking
- Maintain the roof drains and heat tapes.
- Maintain C.A. monitoring and control equipment.
- Maintain Fire sprinkler systems.
- Maintain safety equipment.
- Calibrate instrumentation including thermometers, gauges, and controls.
- Assist in special projects that may not be related to refrigeration.
Certification & Professional Expectations
Certification such as CARO are required for compliance with OSHA standards and company policy. This certifcation can be obtained during employment.

Pay: $25.20 - $30.26 per hour
