Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, following safety protocols aligned with HIPAA regulations
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and ease
- Coordinate with dental reception staff to schedule appointments, confirm patient information, and handle administrative tasks seamlessly
- Maintain infection control standards by adhering to OSHA guidelines and proper sterilization procedures in the dental clinic environment
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry to optimize workflow efficiency
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to communicate effectively within the team
- Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and accurately
- Familiarity with infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment
- Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist to greet patients warmly and coordinate appointments smoothly
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices to support young patients comfortably in a pediatric-focused practice
