About The Role

A new and exciting opening to shape the future of Diageo’s Manufacturing Operational Technology (OT). Based at a manufacturing site and as part of the our North America Engineering Team you will be responsible for the management of the site(s) OT Systems, including OT data platform, SCADA process control systems, networks, PLC’s and HMI’s. Working closely with the North America Engineering and Global Engineering Teams, you will own the strategy to implement technology standards in your area of responsibility.

The Digital & Cyber Lead is the primary owner of the site’s digital applications, cyber governance, and OT/IT integration roadmap. This role delivers the next generation of connected, secure, and data‑driven factory operations by leading digital transformation initiatives while ensuring compliance with cyber security standards (such as IEC 62443) and operating critical OT cyber controls.

You will act as the site focal point for cyber security, lead digital execution plans, and ensure that automation, data, and technology systems are secure, resilient, and enabling operational excellence.

Digital Supply Chain & Smart Manufacturing Enablement (Primary Focus)

  • Own and maintain the site Digital Master Plan, aligned with North America and Global digital and automation standards.
  • Lead the adoption of digital technologies including MES, Data Platform, data models, AI, IIoT, DCS, and Smart Manufacturing solutions.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, operations, and NAM/Global digital teams to support Capital Projects that enhance efficiency, safety, and asset performance.
  • Lead operational data management: reporting, cyber controls, data classification, governance, data flow mapping, and secure access.
  • Support capital projects requiring digital/automation expertise and ensure digitalization is embedded by design.

OT Cyber Security Leadership

  • Operate the Cyber Global Risk Management System (GRMS) at the site and ensure ongoing compliance with cyber controls.
  • Lead the site’s IEC 62443 lifecycle activities, including risk assessments, patching, hardening, and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Act as the site focal point for cyber metrics, reporting, incident response coordination, and governance reviews.
  • Handle secure remote access systems and continuous threat detection platforms.
  • Liaise with Global Cyber Centres of Excellence to bring up and resolve threats.

OT Controls Systems & Automation Support

  • Provide consultation on Industrial Control & Automation Systems at the site, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, and networked control systems.
  • Guide site engineering teams on design standards, automation architectures, and integration requirements.
  • Support problem solving and issue resolution with onsite teams and 3rd‑party integrators.
  • Own OT disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including simulation/testing.

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Manage key OT/digital vendors, including service level agreements, critical metrics, contract renewals, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee integrators providing automation, network, or cybersecurity services.
  • Ensure vendor access and remote support follows secure processes and audit controls.

Transformation Management, Training & Leadership

  • Provide coaching and training for local teams on digital systems, cyber controls, and secure OT practices.
  • Lead communication and change‑management activities for digital projects and cyber initiatives.
  • Serve as a role model for ManEx / core processes, performance management, and continuous improvement.

This is a new role and is fundamental in facilitating a step change in the management and security of OT systems in Diageo. The role has the potential to be shaped by the individual and gives great opportunity to take ownership and demonstrate leadership. There will be an abundance of learning and growth opportunities due to the rapidly evolving nature of Operational Technology and the cyber-threats and technological advances within this field. Building great relationships with partners is key to success.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering degree (ME, EE, CE, or equivalent) or time‑served engineering trade qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in OT, automation, digital systems, or operations environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in process control, PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, automation networks, or robotics.
  • Experience leading digital or automation projects in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of OT/IT networking concepts.
  • Experience in structured problem solving (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, ManEx).

Desirable

  • IEC 62443 training or certification (or willingness to undertake).
  • Experience implementing MES, DCS, IIoT or Smart Manufacturing technologies.
  • Understanding of engineering safety systems and hazard identification.
  • Experience handling automation vendors, integrators, and cyber tool providers.
  • Financial literacy in Capex, maintenance budgets, and digital cost modeling.
