JOB DESCRIPTION:
Set-up, adjust and operate various sizes of horizontal boring mills to turn, bore, face, groove, recess, taper, etc. on a variety of standardized work where skill is required to maintain tolerances on related dimensions. Set-ups involve some blocking, aligning and securing of work pieces having irregular shapes; greater part of work is of the chucking variety. Speeds and feeds, tooling and operational sequences usually prescribed but operator may select them within limits of standard procedures. Grind tools to meet varying conditions and materials.
Work from drawings, specifications and job layouts; use a variety of precision measuring instruments. Requires a knowledge of machining practices and fundamentals to perform work. Work is subject to process checks and final inspection.
May also perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
This job requires a knowledge of shop and machining practices, plus experience background as acquired through vocation training and/or shop experience. A high school diploma or GED is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
