Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of independently managed maintenance and repair work on facilities, systems, and structures (i.e., replacement of hardware, light fixtures, baseboards, molding, appliances, etc.)
- Assemble, install or repair plumbing fixtures and maintain bathroom fixtures (i.e., showers, toilets, faucets, water supply and drain lines, etc.)
- Replace HVAC air filters, maintain air vents and thermostats
- Replace electrical switches, circuit breakers, outlets, light fixtures, and electrical appliances under supervision of DHA’s Master Electrician
- Prepare vacant housing units for occupancy; including repair, cleaning, and interior painting and general maintenance, etc.
- Repair or replace doors, door hardware, locks, cabinets, windows, flooring, roofing, pipe systems and more
- Diagnose mechanical problems and find solutions
Knowledge and Skills for Success
A successful maintenance technician has…
- A strong knowledge of materials, procedures and methods used to perform general building and maintenance according to industry standards while following safety procedures
- The ability to organize and plan a sequence of tasks necessary to complete job assignments effectively
- Experience in the use of various hand tools, work aids and equipment to complete the required work
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical vocational program
- Must have a Texas Driver’s License
- Two (2) years of building maintenance, plumbing, cleaning and maintenance experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Eligibility Requirements for Bonuses
To receive bonuses, employees must:
- Be a new hire in a maintenance position
- Remain employed at the time of payout
- Maintain satisfactory performance and conduct, including:
- Good attendance (limited unexcused absences/tardies)
- On-time work order completion
- Quality workmanship
- Follow safety procedures
- Professional conduct with residents and staff
- Completion required training and certifications
