Lead Facilities Custodian
Position Summary
DG Foods is seeking an exceptional Lead Facilities Custodian to maintain our administrative offices, employee common areas, restrooms, and facility support areas at the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, appearance, and compliance. This is not a traditional janitorial position. We are looking for a highly motivated professional who takes pride in cleanliness, pays attention to detail, works independently, and understands the importance of sanitary conditions within a food manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive custodial or housekeeping experience and a demonstrated history of maintaining facilities to a superior standard.
Essential Responsibilities
Facility Cleaning and Sanitation
- Clean and maintain administrative offices.
- Clean and sanitize a large employee break room and associated common areas.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize men's and women's restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and fixtures utilizing proper cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain hand-washing stations to ensure they remain clean, stocked, and fully operational.
- Refill soap dispensers, paper towels, hand towels, tissue products, and other consumable supplies.
- Empty trash receptacles throughout the facility and properly dispose of waste.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and maintain floors using appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Clean walls, windows, doors, baseboards, light fixtures, vents, blinds, and other surfaces.
- Dust furniture, office equipment, ledges, and hard-to-reach areas.
- Perform routine deep cleaning of all assigned areas.
- Identify and address cleanliness issues before they become problems.
Food Plant Standards and Compliance
- Maintain cleanliness standards required in a food processing environment.
- Maintain supplies and cleanliness standards that promote effective hand washing and personal hygiene.
- Properly handle, mix, store, and utilize approved cleaning chemicals following safety requirements and manufacturer instructions.
- Report facility maintenance concerns, sanitation deficiencies, safety hazards, or damaged equipment.
- Develop and maintain cleaning schedules to ensure all areas receive proper attention.
- Work with plant leadership to continuously improve facility appearance and sanitation standards.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of professional custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, environmental services, or facility cleaning experience.
- Proven experience performing detailed cleaning in commercial, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, food manufacturing, or similar environments.
- Experience safely using cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, floor cleaning products, and custodial equipment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in food manufacturing, food processing, healthcare, hospitality, or industrial facilities.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to push carts, mop buckets, cleaning equipment, and waste containers.
- Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and sanitation products.
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning duties throughout the shift.
