Position Summary:

DG Foods is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our accounting and finance team at our Hazlehurst, MS facility.  The Accounting Clerk prepares, maintains, and processes accounting records and financial transactions, including accounts payable, billing, and purchase orders. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Clerk performs general accounting duties in accordance with prescribed procedures and accounting practices.

Essential Job Functions:

• Maintains account payables system; verifies invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents; resolves discrepancies; requests checks to pay invoices. 
• Out-processing of company-issued checks. 
• Handles billing process for the company; verifies purchase orders match the bill of ladings, creates an invoice, and processes as required.
• Handles issuing and closing of all purchase orders.
• Processes various accounting-related reports required by management. 
• Files and maintains clerical records and reports. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment interacting with different departments within the organization. 
• Performs basic office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, processing mail, filing, etc.
• Abides by all company procedures and accounting principles.
• Responds appropriately to vendor, client, and internal requests.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Skills and Expertise:

• At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Maintains a valid driver’s license.
• Must have a working knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles.
• Must be able to always maintain a high and relatable level of professionalism.
• Must have excellent organizational and critical thinking skills.
• A strong emphasis on attention to detail is essential.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to always maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
• Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least two (2) years working in an office environment; Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or related field with at least two (2) years of relative experience is preferred, but not required.
• Other combinations of education and experience will also be considered.

 Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of working in an office environment.
• Must be able to lift objects not exceeding 20 pounds on occasion.
