What are the responsibilities and job description for the Datacenter Technician position at DFND Security, Inc.?
We are looking for a Network Admin for a project in the Pecos area thats starting immediately and could turn into an extremely long term project.
Right now we need someone to start on site in Pecos, TX next week and its the first of a 9 building project!
Basic networking skills and any OT/IT is a huge plus!
Hands-On Hardware and Physical Tasks
- Racking and stacking: Mount servers, switches, and routers into server racks.
- Cable management: Run, connect, and label copper and fiber optic network cables.
- Asset tracking: Add new hardware to inventory systems and apply asset tags. [1]
Network Configuration and Maintenance
- Switch port setup: Turn ports on or off, set up basic VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks), and apply port security. VLANs separate network traffic for safety.
- Device updates: Help install software updates and patches on network switches and routers.
- Credentials and keys: Assist with basic SSL certificate management or user access logs. [1, 2]
Troubleshooting and Triage
- Ticket resolution: Clear out routine IT help desk and network support tickets.
- Basic testing: Use simple tools like ping, traceroute, and packet captures to find connection errors.
The initial project is expected to last at least 2-4 weeks and could get extended for years.
