JOB DESCRIPTION
The Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing all inbound material activities to ensure accurate, timely, and safe receipt of goods. This role leads receiving personnel, coordinates dock operations, verifies documentation, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving Operations
- Oversee daily receiving activities including unloading, inspection, and staging
- Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and bills of lading
- Ensure accurate entry of received materials into ERP/WMS systems
- Resolve shortages, damages, and incorrect shipments
- Coordinate dock schedules with carriers and internal teams
Leadership
- Lead, train, and assign work to receiving associates
- Monitor productivity and performance against goals
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action
Inventory Control & Accuracy
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper receiving and labeling
- Support cycle counts and physical inventories
- Ensure materials are properly stored and staged
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies
- Promote safe operation of forklifts and material handling equipment
- Maintain clean and organized receiving areas (5S)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years of receiving or warehouse experience
- 1 year in a lead or supervisor role
- ERP or WMS experience
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain
