The Warehouse & Shipping Manager owns the full inbound and outbound logistics operation—from receiving raw materials and substrates through order fulfillment, carrier management, and final shipment. This role is responsible for running a safe, accurate, and high-speed warehouse that can scale aggressively during peak periods. The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing high-volume outbound shipping operations, leading multi-shift teams, and successfully navigating peak season ramp-ups, including surge staffing, carrier capacity planning, and SLA performance under pressure.
Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee all inbound receiving, inventory control, material storage, and outbound fulfillment
- Maintain accurate inventory records for substrates, finished goods, packaging materials, and consumables
- Develop, implement, and enforce SOPs for receiving, picking, packing, and shipping processes
- Ensure facility organization, cleanliness, and compliance with safety and OSHA standards at all times
Shipping & Carrier Management
- Own relationships with all carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS, LTL/freight) and support rate negotiation in partnership with leadership
- Manage daily shipping operations to ensure on-time delivery aligned with client SLAs
- Monitor carrier performance metrics and proactively address service issues
- Maintain proficiency in shipping platforms (e.g., Shippo, ShipStation, EasyPost, or similar systems)
Peak Season & Surge Capacity
- Develop and execute comprehensive peak season operating plans, including staffing models, carrier capacity reservations, and workflow optimization
- Lead onboarding and training of temporary workforce while maintaining safety and accuracy standards
- Build and manage multi-shift schedules to sustain throughput during extended peak periods
- Collaborate closely with Production to align output with fulfillment capacity
Team Leadership
- Manage warehouse leads and associates across multiple shifts
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability for accuracy, speed, and safety
- Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, and teamwork while maintaining sustainable workloads during peak demand
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Production to ensure efficient flow of finished goods from manufacturing to fulfillment
- Provide regular reporting on inventory levels, shipping performance, and operational status
- Support client-specific fulfillment needs, including custom packaging, kitting, and special handling instructions
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of warehouse and/or shipping management experience in high-volume environments (e-commerce, print, 3PL, or similar)
- Demonstrated success managing multi-shift warehouse operations
- Proven experience leading peak or holiday ramp-ups, including temporary staffing, carrier planning, and volume scaling
- Strong knowledge of small parcel and freight carriers, with the ability to optimize shipping costs
- Hands-on experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software
- Solid understanding of inventory control processes and cycle counting methodologies
- Working knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with direct-to-consumer (DTC) fulfillment, especially in personalized or photo product environments
- Experience managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers or staffing agencies during peak periods
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
