Job Title: Scientist - Sun Care Formula

Duration: 6 Months with possibilities of extension

Pay Rate: $ 25 - 26.94/hr

Location :Allendale NJ

1-2 years of experience in sunscreen (lotions and sprays) or 1-2 in cosmetic field in general. General knowledge cosmetic lab (body washes). Must have a degree. Documentation skills.

Soft skills: Attention to details, work with teams (cross functional), decision making, ability to be independent, be innovative.

Strong stand outs - Sunscreen experience. Bigger companies and experience in labs.

Onsite role - 4-5 days in lab (NJ). 3)

Schedule: Fridays are full days in 2026. Shifts are from 8am - 4pm Monday through Friday, but there is a potential for Summer Fridays if the candidate would like to use that.

Skillset - Looking for very basic experience in cosmetic labs (sun care, skin care). Prior Personal care environments and labs. PLM systems or formula net systems (nice to have). 1-2 years of experience in lab setting. Bachelors degree (preferred). Experience with Sun care product development - formulation and packaging protocols. Comfortable PowerPoint, Excel.

Position Summary:

The Contract - Scientist role supports business needs as outlined by the Director in Future Sun Technology. The Contract Scientist role develops a research investigation plan and conducts research related to Sun care technology developments. The Contract Scientist role conducts In-depth analyses and integration of data derived from single or multiple tests to present a comprehensive picture and recommended actions. The Contract Scientist role assists in the product development and implementation of new methods specific to Sun care technology.

Accountabilities

• Batch and support lab scale sun care formulations

• Capture all critical data and report out monthly to key stakeholders on findings as testing is completed

• Maintain communication with cross functional team ensuring requirements are met.

• Identify and report Ways of Working (WOW) workflow improvements.

• Write regular progress reports test reports and provide technical support in meetings regarding individual project progress.

• Learning to design and execute assigned research investigations consistent with sound, robust scientific investigations that meet international standards and are defensible in front of the scientific community.

• Designing and executing robust research studies that are objective driven and meets the needs of the project team.

• Presentation of all information in a manner that is coherent and accurately reflects the results obtained in the research investigation.

• Up-to-date knowledge and application of statistical analysis procedures for the investigation of product/process/consumer data.

• Application of technical tools that support testing and data management (automated data collection systems, statistical software, Microsoft Office, Product Lifecycle Management, etc.)

• Demonstrating the ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work in teams and multitask; a solution orientated professional.

• Maintaining and expanding knowledge base required within the area of work.

• Participating in cross functional and project teams, as assigned by their supervisor, by providing technical understanding of core area of expertise.

• Conducting all activities consistent with company and departmental policies and procedures.

• Good documentation practices of any records and data.

Required Education, Skills and Experience

• Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 2 years work experience, or an advanced degree in Science or Engineering (M.Sc. or Ph.D.)

Desirable Education, Skills and Experience

• Experience with Sun care and/or skin care product development

• Basic understanding of product/process/consumer based research as a scientific discipline

• Ability to frame internal customer needs into actionable studies.

• Ability to coordinate projects including the design, execution, analysis and reporting.

• Basic proficiency in applying and developing methodologies including quantitative and qualitative testing, statistics, and design of experiments to answer objectives.

• Ability to function as a collaborating team member in a business environment to support area of discipline on cross-functional teams.

• Ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work in teams

• A solution orientated professional with the ability to execute multiple tasks required to meet project objectives

• Communicates effectively intra and interdepartmentally to meet project objectives

• Good documentation practices of any records and data
