Job title: Recombinant DNA Scientist

Pay range: $31 - 35/hr On W2

Duration – 12 Months contract(contract renewal after 12 Months)

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Biologist / Research Associate to join an innovative Biologics R&D team. The primary focus of this role is to apply core molecular biology and plant techniques to test and characterize novel gene editing and recombination tools, directly contributing to research that bridges fundamental science with cutting-edge agricultural applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Molecular Cloning & Processing: Execute complex molecular cloning techniques (including restriction/ligation, Gibson assembly, and Golden Gate) for the construction of novel DNA vectors and genetic constructs.
• DNA Handling: Perform high-quality DNA extraction and purification from various sources, and conduct DNA sample cleanup for downstream analysis.
• Recombinase Testing: Design and execute experiments to test the activity and specificity of various recombinase variants, leveraging knowledge of site-specific recombination systems (e.g., Cre/lox, FLP/FRT).
• Plant Biology Techniques: Perform transient plant transformation (e.g., Agrobacterium-mediated) to validate molecular constructs within plant systems.
• Data Analysis: Conduct basic sequence analysis using bioinformatics tools (e.g., BLAST, CLC Workbench, Geneious) to verify constructs and interpret experimental results.
• General Lab Operations: Maintain detailed records, ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols (including the use of required PPE: safety glasses, lab gloves, lab coat), and contribute to an organized, high-functioning molecular biology laboratory environment.
• Collaboration: Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Must-Haves)

• Education: Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, or a closely related field.
• Molecular Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory environment (academic or industry) with proficiency in:
• Molecular Cloning (Restriction/Ligation, Gibson assembly, or Golden Gate).
• DNA extraction, purification, and sample cleanup.
• PCR and basic sequence analysis.
• Plant Experience: Hands-on experience with transient plant transformation (e.g., Agrobacterium-mediated).
