Pay range: $30 -$35/hr

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Laboratory IT Support Specialist to provide technical support for laboratory computers, scientific instruments, and connected IT systems within a pharmaceutical environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in IT support, desktop support, or technical troubleshooting, preferably within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or laboratory environments.

This role involves troubleshooting computer and software issues, supporting laboratory instrument connectivity, managing IT incidents, and collaborating with laboratory personnel, internal IT teams, application owners, and external vendors to ensure reliable laboratory operations and data availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on IT support for laboratory computers, instrument-connected systems, and related applications.
• Troubleshoot Windows operating system, hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Manage laboratory computer inventory, coordinate PC replacements, and support approved software installations and upgrades.
• Assist with connectivity between laboratory instruments, applications, middleware, historians, and data storage systems.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues, coordinating with IT teams, application owners, and external vendors as needed.
• Manage IT incidents from initial reporting through resolution, ensuring timely follow-up and escalation.
• Monitor data flows and help maintain reliable data transfer, integrity, and availability.
• Collaborate with laboratory users, IT/OT teams, and technical support groups to improve laboratory IT systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, troubleshooting procedures, system configurations, and resolutions.
• Follow established IT security, change-management, and laboratory documentation procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in IT support, desktop support, technical support, or systems support.
• Good understanding of Windows operating systems, computer hardware, and software troubleshooting.
• Basic understanding of network connectivity and computer systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate technical issues independently.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize issues in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or laboratory environments.
• Familiarity with laboratory instruments and instrument-connected computers.
• Exposure to Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), middleware, historians, or laboratory data management systems.
• Experience coordinating with IT teams, application support groups, and external vendors.
• Understanding of IT/OT environments, data integrity, and change-control procedures.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on IT support professional who enjoys troubleshooting technical issues and working directly with users. Experience supporting laboratory computers, scientific applications, or instrument connectivity is highly desirable.
