Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Preventive and Reparative Maintenance duties on Production, Manufacturing, and R&D Equipment and Fixtures.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain Automated production /process equipment, including PLC, Robotics 6 axis and pick and place robots, but not limited to Pneumatic systems, Hydraulic/Fluidics systems, Electro/Mechanical systems, packaging equipment, resistance/ultrasonic welders, heat stakers.

  • Perform equipment moves and setups. 

  • Maintains and write Equipment Binders (EB), Maintain appropriate documents PM/CM documents, Pass-downs, Track-it work orders and performs IQ/OQ’s, equipment validations. Helps maintain spare part inventories.

  • Ability to perform equipment activities in equipment development under supervision of the project engineer.  Activities including assembly and testing of equipment, fixtures, processes and/or electronics, completing engineering studies and validations.

  • Follow Dexcom’s Safety and Lock Out/Tag out (LOTO) program.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years related production equipment, processes and/or electronics technician experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with electronics-based medical device development

  • Electro-mechanical experience a plus

  • Prior experience with Compliance test laboratories.

  • Prior experience with low power microcontrollers in a battery powered system

  • Schematic capture and PCB layout, design documentation

  • Design for manufacture, test, cost and reliability

  • Familiarity using Lab Test Equipment

  • Excellent communicator both verbally and in written form

  • Ability to work in a fast paced / dynamic team environment and possess time management skills to meet schedules

 

Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Functional Description

Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings. Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers.

  • Assignments are complex in nature where judgment and initiative is required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
  • Thoroughness and reliability are essential as errors would result in a possibility for loss and normally affect other groups.
