Product Design Engineer

Job Title: Exterior Trim Engineer

Location: Newark, California – 100% Onsite

Duration: Long-term Contract

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week ~5 hours OT (Monday–Friday)

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Exterior Trim Engineer with hands-on experience in vehicle exterior trim design and development. The role involves working on key exterior components and contributing to vehicle programs from development through production.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in vehicle exterior trim design & development
• Expertise in designing components such as side valences, sill trims, underbody aero shields, wheelhouse liners, spoilers/appliques, frunk/froot, and rocker panels
• Strong CAD modeling skills, preferably using CATIA V5 or V6
• Hands-on experience with thermoplastic and thermoset materials and Class A manufacturing processes, including painting
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Demonstrated experience supporting product launch and familiarity with production processes
• Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in plastics design and Class A surface development
• Experience with front crash structures, aero features, lighting integration, and module integration
• Exposure to tooling, supply base management, and production support activities
• Knowledge of fit and finish, gap and flush, thermal expansion, structural design, and paint matching
• Strong 3D engineering problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Passion for contributing to high-quality, world-class vehicle development
