SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing a multitude of in-home personal and companionship care services, including bathing, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, and transportation to and from medical appointments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides ill, elderly, or disabled clients with assistance, companionship, and comfort.
- Assists with clients personal care activities such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Administers prescribed medications and monitors vital signs.
- Assesses the physical, mental, and emotional conditions of clients.
- Facilitates appropriate professional intervention when required.
- Engages clients in suitable activities, such as socializing, playing games, or reading out loud.
- Assists clients with mobility, personal hygiene, eating, and drinking.
- Accompanies clients on medical appointments and outings.
- Performs general household duties, such as cleaning, cooking, and shopping.
- Maintains a hygienic and safe environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or at least 2 years of related experience.
- Certificates, licenses, and registrations required:
- CPR certified.
- First-aid certified.
- 11-hour online training
- Registered as a home care aide in CDSS
- Skills required:
- Proven working experience as a Home Health Aide.
- Familiarity with basic nutrition and personal hygiene standards.
- Available to work irregular hours, including night shift, weekends, and holidays.
- Extensive experience in supervising and assisting clients, as well as engaging them in suitable activities.
- Experience in monitoring clients' conditions and reminding prescribed medications.
- Ability to perform basic housekeeping tasks, prepare meals, and run errands.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, a caring approach, and physical fitness.
- Ability to ensure clients' safety and provide comfort.
- Proficiency in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds to assist clients with mobility, transfers, or daily living tasks.
- Must have manual dexterity to handle small objects (e.g., medication, medical equipment).
- Frequent use of hands and arms for reaching, assisting, and cleaning.
- Requires visual and auditory ability to observe and respond to client needs and safety hazards.
- Must be able to move quickly and efficiently in response to emergencies.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed primarily in clients private homes, which may vary in cleanliness, organization, and layout.
- May be exposed to pet dander, smoke, household chemicals, bodily fluids, or infectious diseases.
- Possible exposure to stressful or emotionally difficult situations, including working with clients who have dementia, disabilities, or terminal conditions.
- Must be comfortable working independently and following specific care plans and safety guidelines.
- Flexible schedules may include weekends, holidays, or evening shifts, depending on client needs.
