Devonshire Recruiting & Consulting Partners is partnering with a major energy provider to hire a Lead Mechanical Engineer (Materials). This senior role is central to maintaining the safety, reliability, and modernization of a large generation fleet and supporting new energy projects. You will provide technical leadership in mechanical integrity, failure analysis, and capital project execution within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
This engineering position will support both internal and external teams working on new energy projects and improvements to our existing fleet of steam and combustion turbine units. This role involves inspecting and evaluating power boilers, pressure vessels, process tanks, high-energy piping systems, and other mechanical components.
The engineer will assess and implement upgrades as part of capital improvement and maintenance programs. Responsibilities include mechanical design evaluations, material analysis, cost/benefit and risk assessments, and performance reviews. The role also includes project engineering, design, and management duties, along with the development of mechanical specifications, standards, and procedures.
This position is a key contributor to our asset management and technology modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mechanical integrity inspections and failure analysis for boilers, pressure vessels, high-energy piping, and related systems.
- Lead condition assessments and develop repair strategies for critical power generation assets.
- Serve as Project Engineer/Manager for capital upgrade projects from scope development through commissioning.
- Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations in compliance with ASME, National Board, and API codes.
- Develop mechanical specifications, standards, and maintenance procedures.
- Provide field troubleshooting support and verify as-built conditions.
- Prepare cost estimates and perform risk/cost-benefit analyses for engineering solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering.
- Active New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in power generation or related heavy industry.
- Expertise in ASME Sections I, II, V, VIII, IX, B31.1, National Board codes, and API 650/653.
- Proven experience in materials evaluation, failure analysis, and welding technology.
- Ability to work on-site in a power plant environment and travel locally as needed.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
