The Supervisor will manage daily staffing and workload assignments, monitor employee productivity, maintain inventory accuracy, resolve picking and inventory issues, and hold team members accountable for established performance standards.

This is a floor-focused leadership position. The Supervisor is expected to actively monitor operations throughout the shift, identify issues before they affect customer orders, and take immediate corrective action when performance falls below expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the Walmart order picking team.
  • Review daily workload and establish picking priorities based on order volume, shipping schedules, and customer deadlines.
  • Assign associates to picking areas based on workload and operational needs.
  • Monitor individual and team productivity throughout the shift.
  • Ensure Walmart orders are picked accurately, completely, and on time.
  • Verify associates are selecting the correct SKU/item, quantity, purchase order, and distribution center (DC).
  • Monitor RF scanners, WMS transactions, pick tickets, and other systems used to complete orders.
  • Investigate shortages, incorrect locations, inventory discrepancies, and other issues preventing orders from being completed.
  • Work closely with Inventory to resolve discrepancies quickly.
  • Coordinate with Shipping to ensure completed orders are staged and ready for loading by required deadlines.
  • Ensure pallets are properly labeled, wrapped, organized, and staged by PO and destination/DC.
  • Conduct routine floor walks to monitor productivity, safety, housekeeping, and employee performance.
  • Train and develop new and existing associates on picking procedures, scanning, inventory accuracy, safety, and department expectations.
  • Coach employees who fail to meet productivity, quality, attendance, or behavioral expectations.
  • Document recurring performance issues and escalate corrective action when appropriate.
  • Monitor attendance, tardiness, breaks, and staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve picking efficiency, workflow, inventory accuracy, and labor utilization.
  • Provide management with daily updates regarding productivity, staffing, order completion, inventory discrepancies, and operational concerns.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The Warehouse Order Picking Supervisor will be evaluated using measurable operational and leadership standards. Performance expectations may be adjusted based on order volume, staffing, customer requirements, and operational conditions.

  • Potential delays must be identified and communicated before they affect scheduled shipments.

  • Unproductive or excessive downtime

Employees falling below expectations should receive timely coaching and follow-up.

Recurring discrepancies must be investigated for root cause.

Attendance issues must be addressed consistently according to company policy.
