Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing behavior, and reporting changes to healthcare teams
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning, laundry, and organization of living spaces
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s
to assist with mobility and prevent injury during transfers - Document care activities accurately in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster social engagement and reduce feelings of isolation
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to develop and implement personalized care plans
- Observe patient behavior for signs of dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other developmental disabilities, ensuring appropriate interventions are applied
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques including vital signs measurement and behavioral observation
- Hands-on experience with medication administration, care planning, and documentation in home health or hospice settings is advantageous
- Familiarity with caring for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or memory care needs enhances your ability to provide specialized support
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges such as autism demonstrates your adaptability and compassion
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance is beneficial
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
