Location: Office of Finance, Fisher Building
Salary: $88,506 - $109,630
Reports to: Assistant Director, School Budget Compliance
Bargaining Unit: OSAS
Benefits Eligible: Yes
Telecommuting Eligibility: Eligible for telecommuting up tp 40% (two days per week)
In accordance with the Agreement between Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors (OSAS) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.
Position Summary
School Compliance Administrators must have the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to act as the primary Finance contact for their assigned schools. They will work with Grant Compliance Administrators, Procurement, Payroll, Budget, etc., to ambitiously resolve school concerns for all available funding sources.
School Compliance Administrators will support the following Compliance Department priorities:
Internal Applicants
If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.
External Applicants
In alignment with Michigan law, if you are hired to fill a position, you will be required to submit to a Detroit Public Schools Community District criminal background check. Information regarding required background checks will be shared at point of hire.

- Provide high quality customer service - go over and above to resolve stakeholder concerns quickly, fully, and appropriately.
- Ensure that funds are properly utilized in accordance with District and grantor guidelines and that individual school budgets are fully expended.
- Increase grant expenditures to fully utilize supplemental funding.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledgeable of District operations and grant guidelines.
- Ability to successfully complete assignments and support schools with minimal supervision.
- Provide high quality customer service, build relationships, and communicate with school leaders to fully understand and address their needs and concerns.
- Act as the single point of contact for assigned schools, and work with departments to resolve school-level financial and compliance concerns.
- Assist and support schools with identifying and using available funding for school-level needs.
- Prepare and conduct professional development and written guidance to support schools.
- Participate in local, and state professional development to remain up to date on compliance requirements for grant programs.
- Regularly meet with school staff to assist schools with identifying financial priorities, developing budgets, and implementing spending plans to meet expenditure targets and remain in compliance with District and grant guidelines.
- Monitor the implementation of grant programs to ensure compliance with grant provisions, guidelines, and District policies via online and on-site monitoring.
- Complete required local, state, and federal reporting and grant applications.
- Analyze and align grant budgets and amendments in the District’s ERP system.
- Review and approve school expenditures.
- Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director.
