About the Role:
Deters Law is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized Paralegal / Legal Assistant to support our boutique estate planning practice. This role involves drafting estate planning documents, assisting with the probate process, and working directly with clients to help families protect their assets and plan for the future.

Location and Schedule:
- Full-time, in-office position in Erie, Colorado
- Opportunities to collaborate closely with attorneys and participate in firm meetings
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting various estate planning documents:
Trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, etc.
Deeds and related real property transfer documents
Corporate documents
- Prepare and file probate pleadings with the Courts
- Coordinate client experience from initial intake through document execution
- Communicate with clients verbally and in writing regarding document preparation and scheduling
- Conduct legal research
- Prepare written correspondence, proofreading and editing
- File documents with county and state governmental offices
- Prepare estate planning binders and final client deliverables
- Manage and organize client files and document systems
- Participate in firm meetings, and team discussions
- Assist with basic office administration
- Assist with prospective client intake and basic information gathering

- Legal Knowledge: A strong understanding of estate planning documents, processes, and procedures.
- Research Abilities: Demonstrates experience conducting online legal research, including public deed records, statutory filing instructions, and relevant Colorado statutes.
- Confidentiality: Demonstrates an understanding of the importance attorney-client confidentiality and holds a strong commitment in handling sensitive personal and financial information with discretion and care.
- Writing Skills: Demonstrates the ability to draft accurate, well-organized, and professional legal documents and correspondence, using precise to clearly convey complex legal information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA or BS degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent work experience
- Preferred: 2 years paralegal experience in a law firm with demonstrated expertise in estate planning, probate, and/or corporate transactions.
- Candidates with less experience but a strong eagerness to learn and grow are encouraged to apply.
- Working knowledge of trusts and estate planning processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote
