Five years vesting, 20 years retirement at any age.
Vacation
Non-civil service employees accrue 6.67 hours per month (2 weeks per year).
All police employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).
All Fire employees accrue 15 hours per month (7.5 - 24 hour shifts a year).
Sick Leave
Non-civil service employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).
All police employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).
All Fire employees accrue 15 hours per month (7.5 - 24 hour shifts a year).
Holidays
Non-civil service employees receive 13 paid holidays per year including one personal or "floating" day.
Longevity Pay
Earned at a rate of $4 per month.

Worker's compensation coverage is provided for all employees.

Eligible for Education/Certification pay.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate, plan, promote, and implement aquatics programs, including learn-to-swim lessons and special events.
- Monitor program quality, evaluate effectiveness, and recommend improvements based on participation and community needs.
- Support departmental scorecard goals by meeting key accountability targets.
- Identify trends in aquatics programming and assist in developing responsive offerings.
- Ensure the safety, health, and welfare of program participants and staff by following all safety policies and procedures.
- Serve as Manager on Duty during assigned early morning, evening, and weekend shifts, including opening/closing the facility, supervising staff, and handling refunds or voids.
- Manage guest relations, ensuring high-quality service and resolving concerns promptly.
- Conduct routine inspections of aquatic equipment and assist with maintaining pool systems.
- Support water quality testing, chemical management, and documentation of results.
- Prepare written materials, such as reports, newsletters, and content for internal and external communication.
- Supervise assigned personnel and volunteers in the absence of the Aquatics Supervisor, including directing, instructing, reviewing, and evaluating work activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of related work experience to include two (2) years of supervisory experience;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Additional certifications such as American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Certification (LGI) American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI), and Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification are preferred.
- Obtain CPRP certification within 2 years.
- Continually develop as a professional, attend workshops and networking with other professionals annually.
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skill in the operation and use of standard office software which includes databases and presentation programs, along with standard Microsoft products; and
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials.
- Highly organized and have the ability to prioritize projects and handle several projects at the same time.
- Exhibit good problem-solving skills and good judgment in keeping with the mission of the Recreation Department.
