Position Summary

The Senior Buyer independently manages the procurement of a diverse range of goods and services—including activated carbon, filtration equipment, safety supplies, engineering components, and laboratory materials. The role drives cost optimization, supplier performance, and inventory stability while supporting production, quality, and commercial teams. This position requires a self-starter with strong analytical capability and the ability to influence decisions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies that support cost, quality, and supply-continuity objectives.
• Manage end-to-end purchasing activities for domestic and international suppliers.

Supplier Performance & Development

• Build strong supplier relationships and independently conduct negotiations.
• Implement supplier performance metrics and pursue alternative sourcing options to reduce risk.

Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

• Use BOM knowledge and ERP/MRP tools to forecast material needs and secure timely supply.
• Proactively identify risks and adjust procurement plans to avoid production interruptions.

Inventory Optimization

• Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to set inventory targets and support demand planning.
• Drive improvements that balance working capital with supply reliability.

Cost & Process Optimization

• Support cost-reduction initiatives, total cost of ownership analysis, and process streamlining.
• Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements, and supplier consolidation.

Documentation, Reporting & Governance

• Maintain accurate RFQs, bids, contracts, and purchase orders.
• Develop reports and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making and leadership visibility.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and commercial requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Finance to align procurement activities with company priorities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in supply chain management or business management is a plus
• Significant (3-5 yrs) procurement or supply chain experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong ERP/MRP proficiency and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier-management capabilities; able to operate independently with minimal direction.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to evaluate markets, assess risks, and recommend sourcing strategies.
