Duties
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine cutting specifications and dimensions accurately
- Operate advanced glass cutting machinery, including CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines and other fabrication equipment
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and quality of cut glass
- Cut, shape, and finish glass materials using hand tools, power tools, and automated machinery while adhering to safety standards in production
- Measure glass materials with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to ensure precise fit and finish
- Manage the setup and calibration of equipment like kilns for glass tempering or ceramics processing when necessary
- Maintain detailed records of measurements, fabrication steps, and quality control checks to ensure compliance with manufacturing specifications
- Follow safety protocols rigorously during all operations involving glass materials, kilns, or machining processes
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a professional glass cutter with a strong understanding of glass materials and fabrication techniques
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, CAD (Computer-Aided Design) files, and CNC programming for glass cutting applications
- Mechanical knowledge related to machine operation, calibration, and maintenance of fabrication equipment
- Familiarity with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and measurement (quality control) instruments
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments involving glass handling, kilns, ceramics, and machining processes
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for measurements and dimensioning tasks
- Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or other automation systems is a plus but not required
- Strong attention to detail with excellent hand-eye coordination for precise cutting and shaping tasks
